Dave Kalema is a Ugandan-American documentary filmmaker, editor, and storyteller who focuses on stories of belonging, identity, and personal transformation. In 2024, Dave joined Library Films as an Editorial Resident and Assistant Editor after being selected by Industry Standard for its Experience Residency, a post-production initiative backed by Netflix’s Fund for Creative Equity. He contributes to projects led by filmmaker Chris Smith, who is behind the Emmy-nominated documentaries Jim & Andy (Netflix) and FYRE (Netflix) as well as the Emmy-winning 100 Foot Wave (HBO). As a storyteller, Dave is a 2x GrandSlam Champion and Mainstage speaker for The Moth. His storytelling has been featured on NPR’s The Pulse and he’s performed everywhere from New York City to Honolulu.
